Hydraulic multi-plate brake | Series 022

Hydraulic multi-plate brake | Series 022

The 022 series is one of the most successful Ortlinghaus products. Well over one million units are in service around the world wherever safety brakes with an extremely long service life and quality without compromise are required.

The advantage of these wet-running, hydraulically released and spring-applied multi-plate brakes is the high torques they achieve in compact dimensions.

Hydraulically actuated brakes are also available as a special version.
The spring-loaded brakes are safety brakes, which automatically work in cases of pressure failure. The brakes can achieve full torque even when there is no pressure.

Hydraulic brake | Series 128

Hydraulic brake | Series 128

Hydraulically actuated clutches and brakes work exclusively with “wet-running” oil-cooled plates with the friction pairing steel/sintered lining. The advantages of actuation with pressure oil at 80 bar, the multi-plate construction type and the oil-cooled friction pairing steel/high-performance sinter result in an exceptionally compact design with high performance. They feature high torques, low mass moments of inertia, high switch times and little maintenance. The separate design requires different shaft ends for installation, which makes it possible to use different clutch and brake sizes. Since they run in a sealed housing, no dirt is released into the environment.

The international safety regulations for press manufacture were taken into consideration for the design. The clutch-brake combinations have been recognized as safe by the German Employers’ Liability Insurance Association and type-tested by the Swedish Industrial Safety Authority.

up to 1,400,000 Nm

Prot.act – Hydraulically released brake | Series 171 & 172

Prot.act – Hydraulically released brake | Series 171 & 172

Ortlinghaus has been the first with a specific safety brake. solution for the field of servo presses. After more than 10 years of experience, we have launched the new Prot.act generation series 172 which fulfills highest safety and customer requirements for this application. The Prot.act brake is specifically designed for servomotordriven presses and is used as ram holding and as emergency brake. It fulfills the requirements according DIN EN 692 as a safety brake, and stops the ram in emergency cases in shortest time (e.g. the event of a power failure). The brake is characterized by its minimal space requirements, low moment of inertia of the parts rotating with the drive motor, and short engagement times. Thanks to its enclosed design, the brake also produces only a very low external pollution and with a minimal noise level. It conforms to the European safety standard DIN EN ISO 16092 and is largely maintenance-free. Due to friction block design, the axial mobility of the friction elements when operating the brake is possible without moving metallic contact points. On this way fretting corrosion is prevented. Thanks to the dry-running principle, no undesired residual torque develops during normal operation of the press with the brake open. The Prot.act servo is also available in two sizes that are designed for integration in front of the Siemens high-torque motors 1FW3 and 1FW4. The Prot.act flange dimensions in size 90 and 94 if this series are exactly the same as the Siemens motor flanges, which allows a slim but compact and robust drivetrain concept.

Hydraulically actuated and wet running slipping brake | Series 022

Hydraulically actuated and wet running slipping brake | Series 022

Ortlinghaus developed a new slipping brake for winch applications to meet the increasing market requirements. This brake delivers a closed, wet running friction system which is almost maintenance-free and allows continuous slipping. The closed systems protects the brake from environmental influences and conditions but also do not emit any wear or dust particles like a dry running brake.
All this generates a strong and constant slipping torque which leads to a consistent performance of the brake and a very long service life.

This brake also meets the requirements of industry 4.0 with an optional integrated control and monitoring system which allows condition monitoring and therefor prevents from a breakdown due to faulty operations of the winch caused by overload for example.

For cooling and engaging only one medium is needed and therefor the brake can be easily integrated. There is no need to have pressurized air for engagement and sea water for cooling for example.

up to 85.000 Nm

Free fall brake | Series 992

Free fall brake | Series 992

The Ortlinghaus brake products for free-fall winch applications represent the cutting edge in construction brake engineering. We offer two brake types, one with a single plate pack, the other with a double plate pack.

Both are spring-loaded brakes which are hydraulically released.

The single plate pack product is based on the construction principle of the model series 022, with an additional piston chamber which allows pressure-activated braking.

The double plate pack product has two plate packs with different friction pairings. This allows dynamic braking as well as holding a load while avoiding micro-slippage.
